The Positive Futures Welcome Award recognises and encourages great service by businesses and organisations towards people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism across a wide range of sectors, from retail and leisure through to public and financial services. It’s a Positive Futures “seal of approval”, so you can see at a glance how inclusive a business or organisation is.
The Award is a public endorsement of the quality of the welcome and service that businesses or organisations offer to disabled people and their carers. The three principles of the Award are: Respect, Inclusion and Accountability. Participating businesses / organisations will sign a Welcome Award Pledge to uphold these principles.
As someone with a learning disability, or a carer, you probably already know of places that provide a great welcome and exemplify the principles of the Welcome Award, or you may be an organisation that prides itself on meeting those same principles and you’d like to nominate yourself so you can be recognised for your efforts.
What does the Welcome Award consist of?
Organisations who are accepted as Welcome Award holders will receive:
- An A4 printed pledge which they can sign and display in a prominent location
- Window stickers that can be placed on entrance doors and front windows to let people with a disability know that they will receive a great welcome
- An e-version of the sticker for their website
- The option to avail of tailored training for their staff to enhance their understanding and communication with customers with a learning disability, acquired brain injury, or autism
